Chat

Ask about anything you’ve logged, in your own words, and get a short answer from your entries.

Ask a question

Any of these opens Chat:

  • Type or say a question in the Log or chat… box on the Log tab. It knows a question from something to log, and the button reads Ask.
  • Tap Chat on the Log tab.
  • Use the Ask about your log… bar on Discover.

A new chat suggests a few questions built from your own measures. Tap one, or ask your own. Ask a follow-up in the same chat, by typing or with the mic.

Things to ask

“How did I sleep this week?”

“What goes with my headaches?”

“How was my mood this month compared with last month?”

“What did I log yesterday?”

“Does caffeine go with worse sleep?”

Answers name the measures they looked at. Tap one to open its page on Discover.

How answers are made

  • Only from your entries. Chat looks up your own numbers (averages, counts, what tends to go with a measure, two measures side by side) and answers from those. It doesn’t guess or use what other people log.
  • What goes together, not what causes what. Like patterns, answers say what tends to happen together, and aren’t medical advice.
  • It never changes your data. Asking can’t add, edit or delete anything.

Log or add a measure from Chat

If what you type is something to log (“log that I took my evening meds”), it goes through the usual logging, with the Logged sheet and Undo. See Talking to log.

Ask to start tracking something (“start tracking ibuprofen”) and Chat may ask a quick question first, like which unit. Then tap Set up to open New measure filled in. Nothing is saved until you add it.

Past chats

  • Your chats are kept. In Chat, tap the clock button for Past chats and pick one to carry on.
  • Tap + in Chat for a new chat.
  • A question asked from the Log tab carries on your chat from the last 30 minutes, if there is one.
  • Delete one chat from Past chats, or all of them from Settings › Chats › Delete all chats. Your entries, measures and patterns stay.

There’s a daily limit on chat questions. If you reach it, the app says so, and it starts again the next day.
