Talking to log

Say what happened, the way you’d tell a friend. Dayweave files each piece under the right measure.

Log by talking

  1. On the Log tab, tap the round mic at the bottom.
  2. Talk. Your words show as you go, and “Picking up” shows what’s been recognized so far.
  3. Tap Done.

Or type it

  1. Tap the Log or chat… box beside the mic.
  2. Type the same words you’d say. “Will log” above the box previews what it found.
  3. Tap the button beside the box. It shows how many entries it found, like Log 6.

You can switch halfway: Type in the talking sheet keeps what you’ve said so far, and the mic in the typing sheet switches back.

What to say

Mention as much as you like in one go. A few examples:

“had oatmeal and coffee, 30 min bike ride, mood about a 7, knee ache around a 3”

“took my morning meds, three glasses of water so far”

“actually it was four glasses”

  • Numbers for 1–10 measures: “about a 7”, “headache around a 3”.
  • Amounts: “two coffees”, “slept 7 and a half hours”, “walked 40 minutes”.
  • Tags: just say it happened, like “took my evening meds”. Saying you skipped or forgot something doesn’t tag it.
  • Food and notes: each food becomes its own note, with breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack when you mention it.
  • Corrections: say the new value and it replaces that day’s entry.

Words a measure listens for help too. If your measure is Caffeine, “coffee”, “espresso” and “tea” all count. You can add your own words on any measure (see Measures).

Check what was logged

After Done, a sheet shows Logged 6 entries with your words in quotes and one row per entry.

  • Undo one entry: tap the round undo button on its row. Tap Restore to bring it back.
  • Undo all: the small button at the top right undoes everything from that update.
  • Fix an entry: tap its row to open it.
  • Tap Done when it looks right.

After the sheet closes, a bar reads “6 entries logged” with Undo for a few seconds, and new entries are marked “New” on the Log tab.

Something you don’t track yet

If you mention something that isn’t one of your measures, the sheet asks: “Track “Sunlight” as a new measure?” Tap Track it to make the measure and log it, Adjust to change its settings first, or Not now to skip it.

If it sounds like a measure you already have, it asks instead: “Log “sun for 20 min” as Outdoor time?” Say yes and it logs it there, and listens for that word from then on. Or tap New measure instead.

Log another day

Forgot something? Just name the day:

“yesterday I had a migraine, about a 6”

“took my meds every day this week”

Or step back first: use the arrows at the top of the Log tab, or swipe. The box then reads “Add to Oct 27…”, and anything you say goes to that day.

You can add to or change today and the 7 days before it. Anything further back, or a day that hasn’t happened yet, isn’t logged, and the sheet says which part was left out.

Tap instead of talking

Under your entries, Not recorded yet lists things you’ve logged in the last 14 days but not today, plus Mood. Tap + on one to set it with a tap: a number for 1–10 measures or a quick amount (or Other… for another number). For a note, + opens typing. Tags sit as chips at the bottom of their category: tap one to add it. The dashed button underneath, like Show 9 more measures, opens the ones you haven’t logged lately.

Change or delete an entry

Tap any entry on the Log tab. Changes save as you go: change the value, move it to another day or measure, or add a note. If “Keep what I said” is on, you’ll see the words that made it. Delete entry is at the bottom.

Tidy up the Log tab

Tap a category’s name to fold it up, and again to open it. Collapse all folds every category at once. The app remembers how you left it.

If talking doesn’t work

  • “Can’t use the microphone”: allow the microphone for the app in your phone’s settings, or tap Type.
  • “Speech recognition isn’t available on this phone” or “needs a connection right now”: tap Type and type it instead.
  • “Listening stopped”: tap Done to log what was heard, or Type to keep going.

Your phone turns speech into text. Only the text is sent to us, never a recording. More on the Privacy page.
