Measures
Everything you track is a measure: Mood, Knee ache, Water, Morning meds. Each one sits in a category and collects one entry a day.
Four kinds of measure
When you make a measure, you choose how you measure it:
- 1–10 scale
- A number from 1 to 10, shown with a word, like “Knee ache 3 · Mild”. For pain, mood, energy, sleep quality and the like.
- Amount
- A number in a unit: “Water 2 glasses”, “Bike ride 30m”, “Steps 8,200”. Zero counts as a real entry.
- Tag
- It happened or it didn’t, like Morning meds or Onions. A day without the tag counts as a no, so you only log the days it happens.
- Note
- A few words, like what you ate. Notes are the one kind you can log several times a day (one per food, say).
Scale types for 1–10 measures
The scale type picks the words shown with each number, and whether higher is better or worse (which decides how patterns are worded):
- Severity: Mild 1–3 · Moderate 4–6 · Severe 7–10. Higher is worse.
- Mood: Low 1–3 · Okay 4–6 · Good 7–8 · Great 9–10. Higher is better.
- Quality: Poor 1–3 · Fair 4–6 · Good 7–8 · Excellent 9–10. Higher is better.
- Energy: Drained 1–2 · Low 3–4 · Steady 5–7 · Energized 8–10. Higher is better.
- Intensity: Light 1–3 · Moderate 4–6 · Hard 7–8 · Max 9–10. Neither better nor worse.
- Custom: you say what 1 and 10 mean, and whether a higher number is better or worse.
Units for amounts
Cups, glasses, fl oz, ml, liters, bottles, drinks; servings, pieces, grams, ounces, pounds; a duration (like 1h 15m); times, pills, steps, miles, km. Pick Something else… to name your own, like scoops.
Add a measure
- Tap + Measure on the Log tab or the Measures tab.
- Type a name. As you type, ready-made measures that match show up with their settings filled in. Pick one, or keep going to make your own.
- Under How do you measure it?, choose 1–10 scale, Amount, Tag or Note, then the scale type or unit.
- Pick a Category, or tap + New category.
- Under Also listen for, add other words you might say for it (for Heartburn: “reflux”).
- Tap Add measure.
A line near the bottom shows what to say to log it, like “Say “reflux about a 4” and it logs Heartburn · 4.”
If the name sounds like a measure you already have, it says so and offers to add the new name as another word for the old one, so you don’t end up with two.
Other ways in: mention something new while you talk (see Talking to log), or ask in Chat, like “start tracking ibuprofen”.
The library of suggested measures
On the Measures tab, tap Browse suggested measures for common things to track (Headache, Bloating, Sleep quality, Water, Caffeine, Steps, Weight and more), each set up with its scale or unit and its usual category. Search, then tap + Add. Adding one makes its category too, if you don’t have it yet.
Change or delete a measure
On the Measures tab, tap a measure to edit it: rename it, change its scale or unit, move it to another category (its past entries move with it), or change the words it listens for. Tap Save.
Delete removes the measure and all its entries. It asks first and tells you how many entries go with it, and you can undo it for a few seconds after.
To keep a measure but start its history again, open it on Discover and tap Clear history near the bottom. That removes every entry for it, and the patterns found from them; Undo puts them back.
Mood is built in: you can rename it, but not delete it or change its type.
Categories
Categories are named, colored groups, like Symptoms, Drinks or Medications. On the Log tab and Discover, a category shows only when it holds something.
- Make one: tap + Category on the Measures tab. Name it, choose a color, and add measures to it.
- Change one: tap the … beside a category. Rename it, recolor it, add measures, or tap Remove on one to move it out. Tap Save.
- Delete one: its measures and entries stay, and move to Uncategorized.
Change the order
Measures sit in A–Z order in each category. On the Measures tab, hold and drag a measure to move it up or down, or into another category. To change the order of the categories themselves, tap Order, drag them, and tap Done. The same order is used everywhere in the app.
